Seadrill are the world’s leading Deepwater Drilling company. They operate Drilling Rigs and Drill Ships all over the world, and employ over 9,000 people. We have been proud to work Seadrill over the last few years as they have reconfigured their premises and relocated staff.
We were asked to help with the transport of some scale model Drill ships from their London office to their Liverpool office. These models were mounted on wooden plinths with a Perspex case over the top. Made with incredible detail, the model was incredibly fragile and needed specialist handling.
Seadrill came to us because of our existing relationship. They knew they could rely on us to get the models there in the same condition they left in. We were able to provide to them a Specialist Packer widely experienced in the movement of delicate and fragile objects.
Seadrill were able to supply us in advance with photos and measurements of the models they needed moving. This helped us to assess the materials needed and we were able to arrive onsite fully prepared for the task in hand.
Our team were able to carefully dismount the models from where they were situated and took photographs to record the condition and to highlight obvious old repairs. They then began to pack them carefully with boxes built to measure onsite and with acid free tissue paper to pack and secure. The Perspex case was wrapped in bubble wrap and encased in card to protect it from scratches and other damage. It was decided that wooden cases wouldn’t be needed and that a well packed box would be safe by road.
We were able to include the onward trip to Liverpool with the installation of a Board room table so managed to reduce the cost to Seadrill overall.
When the models arrived in Liverpool, the team was able to carefully remove the packaging and replace the case and position the model in its new home. All the packaging was then removed and returned to our yard for recycling.
